The Elan Duo
Hailed by critics for his “virtuoso playing,” “intelligent approach” and “richly expressive” sound, British violinist Andrew Smith made his London debut at age 23. His solo performances have been broadcast on radio and television in England, America, Portugal, Italy and China and he has appeared in concerts around the world.
Andrew is an avid chamber musician, having studied with the Amadeus Quartet, the Emerson String Quartet, Erich Gruenberg, Emanuel Hurwitz, Haroutune Bedelian and Ida Kavaan. His diverse career spans performance, administration, research and education.
He directs two specialist music schools in Connecticut, where he lives with his son and wife, cellist Andrea Mills, to whom he dedicates these recordings.
