Project Beethoven began in 2010 with the Elan Duo's first performances of the ten violin sonatas and continued with a performance cycle ending in 2012. This CD compilation represents the culmination of those performances recorded in the summer of 2012. the Beethoven sonatas span the period from 1797-1812. These works show the growth and expressive development of this great composer as well as his re-interpretation of the violin sonata as a genre from solo works with accoompaniment to music where the piano stands on its own as an equal partner in the duo.
